Cotton Covered Hollow Fibre Jacket Padding
Understand the difference between the outer cover and the filling when evaluating cotton covered hollow fibre pads.
Separate the layers
The word cotton in a hollow fibre shoulder pad may refer to an outer fabric or one layer of its construction. It does not automatically mean that the filling is cotton. Ask for the cover, inner filling and any intermediate layer to be identified separately before specifying an order.
Assess with the actual garment
The surface of the cover can influence handling during assembly, while the overall thickness changes the shoulder outline. One pad can look different under lightweight and heavyweight outer fabrics. Make the final selection using a sample built with the intended shell and lining.
Care and material claims
Breathability, skin compatibility and hypoallergenic performance should not be assumed from a cotton cover alone. Request material details and relevant test evidence whenever these properties matter to the project.
What to request in a technical sheet
Ask for separate composition information for the cover and filling, dimensions and the intended conditions of use. If cotton is not clearly assigned to a layer, request a construction diagram. With a particularly lightweight outer fabric, check separately whether seams or pad edges show through.
